EPSO Plant Factories Working Group Meeting

EPSO – The European Plant Science Organization represents more than 200 research institutes, departments, and universities from 31 countries in Europe and beyond. Its mission is to strengthen the impact and visibility of plant sciences in Europe.

Our colleague Holger Spiegel is one of the chairs of the Plant Factories Working Group, which is dedicated to the use of plants or plant cells for the production of high-quality products – particularly for pharmaceutical, diagnostic, cosmetic, and agricultural applications.

On January 27, 2026, the Plant Factories Working Group will host a full-day scientific online seminar. The aim is to present and discuss the research activities already carried out and planned by the participating institutes and universities.

Henrik Nausch (Aachen) will present new findings on model-based approaches for process intensification for plant suspension cell cultivation, and Boje Müller (Münster) will give a presentation entitled "Latex: A Versatile Containment Approach for Valuable Compound Production", which focuses on the product rubber. We look forward to exciting discussions, new collaborations, and new inspiration for plant research in Europe.
