In the third round of the “GreenEconomy.IN.NRW” innovation competition, the review committee gave the thumbs up to the project "SEASON – Slow Release of Biostimulants from Seed Coatings." Today, the kick-off meeting for the three-year joint project took place at Fraunhofer IME in Aachen. The project partners are Deutsche Saatveredelung AG and Humintech GmbH. Fraunhofer IME is responsible for coordination.

SEASON is developing novel technology for the targeted, time-delayed release of biostimulants through winter rapeseed seed coating. Winter rapeseed is the most important oilseed crop in North Rhine-Westphalia and Germany. High yields depend on uniform germination and the development of strong young plants. SEASON aims to strengthen the sensitive initial growth phases of rapeseed plants and increase their resilience to stress factors, such as cold, drought, and nutrient deficiency, without the need for additional agricultural measures.

As part of the ERDF/JTF program NRW 2021-2027, the state and the EU are promoting the development and production of environmentally friendly and resource-efficient cutting-edge technologies in the fields of environmental management, circular economy, and climate adaptation through the “GreenEconomy.IN.NRW” innovation competition.
