Organization of Scientific Meetings and Courses

The following events were organized by employees of the Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology IME:

 

  • The workshop “Development of a Screening Test to Assess the Mobility of Polar and Ionizable Substances in the Environment” took place on November 19, 2025, in London and was organized by employees from Fraunhofer IME, the UK Environment Agency, and the consulting firm wca.
  • The international NORMAN workshop of the working group on effect-based methods and the NORMAN JPAs Blueprint Biodiversity and Early Warning Systems took place on November 12 and 13, 2025, at Biologicum Frankfurt and was co-organized by Prof. Dr. Henner Hollert (data basis for the analysis of European research activities on chemical pollution and biodiversity).
  • On September 25, 2025, a workshop on the BioDive4Soil project was held in Dessau, organized by Dr. Karsten Schlich and Dr. Elke Eilebrecht from Fraunhofer IME, project partners (ahu GmbH and EFTAS GeoIT), and employees of the German Federal Environment Agency.
  • The 40th Annual Meeting of the German Society for Limnology (DGL) took place from September 8 to 12, 2025, and the DGL session “Groundwater” on the BMFTR initiative LURCH took place from September 14 to 18, 2025, in Frankfurt, both of which were co-organized by Prof. Dr. Henner Hollert.
  • An interdisciplinary conference of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Sustainability Research (ZIN): MULTIDISCIPLINARY PERSPECTIVES ON GROWTH IN THE CONTEXT OF SUSTAINABILITY - On the exchange of social and natural science approaches, 12 and 13 May 2025, Franz-Hitze-Haus Münster, co-organised by Prof. Dr. Bodo Philipp.
  • On April 2, 2025 as part of the PARC project (European Partnership for the Assessment of Risks from Chemicals), a workshop organized by the Federal Environmental Specimen Bank on the topic of “Early Warning Systems” took place at Fraunhofer IME in Schmallenberg.  
  • The workshop “New strategies for regulatory bioaccumulation assessment” took place on March 10 and 11, 2025, in Berlin and was organized by Prof. Dr. Christian Schlechtriem and Verena Kosfeld from Fraunhofer IME and employees of the German Federal Environment Agency.
  • The ECETOC (European Centre for Ecotoxicology and Toxicology of Chemicals) workshop “Overcoming challenges and advancing (bio)degradation guidelines: OECD TG309 revisited” took place in Brussels on January 21 and 22, 2025, and was co-organized by Dr. Dieter Hennecke from Fraunhofer IME.

  •  Joint workshop of the working groups of the Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology Divisions of the German Chemical Society (GDCh) from 17 to 19 June 2024 at Fraunhofer IME Schmallenberg. Organised by Dr Dieter Hennecke, Prof. Dr Christoph Schäfers, Dr Bernd Göckener and Dr Boris Meisterjahn as well as Dr Stefan Hahn, Fraunhofer ITEM.
  • Workshop ‘Expert meeting on environmental risk assessment of RNAi-based crop protection and transient modification techniques of plants’ of the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) from 24 to 25 October 2024. Organised by the BfN and Dr Sebastian Eilebrecht, Dr Udo Hommen, Dr Kerstin Derz, Dr Elke Eilebrecht and Dr Andreas Schiermeyer.
  • Workshop ‘Current developments in the investigation and assessment of PAH contamination in urban soils’ on 3 and 4 June 2024 in Frankfurt. Organised by the GDCh Soil Working Group, chaired by Dr Dieter Hennecke.
