Press Release / December 18, 2012

The Institute for Agroecology, IfA, Neustadt has an excellent expertise in ecologically related agricultural research. One major field of activity is the research into special crops as viticulture, orchards and hops. The Division Applied Ecology of Fraunhofer IME, Schmallenberg, has achieved an international reputation in similar research areas with main focus on field crops as well as hazard and risk assessment for chemicals. A high synergy potential by complementary methodology and technology offers optimized market opportunities.

Both institutes have already worked together in the past. In the near future this co-operation will be reinforced through joint orders and subcontracting. Synergies in technological, personnel or experience terms will highly increase competence, efficacy and client benefit. One example is the improvement of sustainable agriculture by prioritizing land use according to soil, microclimate and crop properties as a contribution to the local and regional economic development.

Leading personnel from both organizations greatly welcome the co-operation and recognize potential benefits.
