»Bringing Chemistry to Life«: Joint meeting of the European and International Chemical Biology Societies

June 09, 2015

The 2015 joint meeting of the ECBS and ICBS (the European and International Chemical Biology Societies) brings together chemical biology researchers from screening and drug discovery, systems biology and therapeutic innovation. It builds on the success at the 3rd ICBS 2014 in San Francisco and the 3rd ECBS 2012 in Vienna and will enable the exchange of research and professional collaboration and drive important discoveries in chemical biology worldwide. Philip Gribbon of the Fraunhofer IME ScreeningPort acts as Chairman of the organizing committee. The meeting will take place in Berlin, October 7-9, 2015.

Venue: Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology IME ScreeningPort, Hamburg, Germany. A series of practical sessions and lectures to examine the design and application of cell-based assays for small molecule screening campaigns in drug discovery. In the practical sessions, participants will have the chance to develop screening-compatible cell based assays, take part in primary screening using a small molecule library, and profile compounds in dose-response experiments.

Bioaccumulation Workshop

State of the art, challenges and regulatory implications, Bauhaus Dessau, Germany, 26-27 June 2014

The Dessau Workshop on Bioaccumulation provided a comprehensive overview of the state of the art of bioaccumulation assessment, provided insights into the problems and challenges addressed by the regulatory authorities and described new research concepts and their regulatory implications. The event was organised by the German Federal Environment Agency (UBA, Dessau) and Fraunhofer IME (Schmallenberg, Germany). About 50 participants from industry, regulatory bodies and academia listened to 14 lectures on selected topics and joined the plenary discussions. The results were published 2015 in Environmental Sciences Europe:
