Pain and Analgesia

Studies are carried out on molecular, genetic, epigenetic and cellular mechanisms of pain and analgesia. A range of animal models of inflammatory and neuropathic pain are available for drug testing, using biochemical, histological, bioimaging and functional readouts. These are complemented by a set of clinical tests for analgesic drugs. In this context, a predictive human model for pain assessment has been developed that enables new analgesics to be discovered and established drugs to be repositioned for more personalized indications.
